Fun, Fireworks, and Willie & Friends!
We had an absolute blast on the 4th of July and it’s also Dr. Bentley’s birthday, so it was super special. Doc says he loves having his birthday on the 4th of July because America celebrates with him and there’s always fireworks. This year, we took Doc to Q2 Stadium’s first ever concert to see ol’ Shotgun Willie, himself.
Willie Nelson is 89 years young and can still put on a heck of a show. Joining him on-stage was his youngest son, J. Micah Nelson. Some of our younger patients might know him as Particle Kid. He sang with Willie and played guitar. They even have a song together that was recently released. Doc and I swear he sounds just like his dear ol’ dad!
Willie was the headliner of the night, but there were many more great bands and artists that performed throughout the day. We had the pleasure of seeing Allison Russell, who just released her first solo album “Outside Child” in 2021. Joining her on stage was Sista Strings, a string playing sister duo that absolutely blew us away with their talent. We also got to see performances by Tyler Childers and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. We ended the night with an amazing firework display that you could see for miles!
All in all, it was a birthday that will certainly go down in Dr. Bentley’s history books! Thank you to everyone who wished him a happy birthday on our facebook post. He was overwhelmed by the show of affection and is already looking forward to what this next year will bring. I don’t know how we’re going to top a Willie Nelson performance, but we will sure try!
